Position Title: Student Trainee – NASA Pathways Intern Employment Program

Salary Range: $30,543.00 - $62,643.00

Preferred Majors: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics

Job Description: The incumbent will support senior acoustics/aeroacoustics research
engineers in the Branch and will be assigned tasks in the area of development and evaluation of noise
reduction concepts for Aeropropulsion systems to be used on future commercial aircraft. This will include work in experimental aeroacoustics to measure parameters associated with noise generation and mitigation. Measurements will include steady and unsteady flow parameters, far-field and near-field acoustics, and flow and acoustic diagnostic measurements such as thermal anemometry (hot wire and hot film), optical methods (particle image and/or laser Doppler velocimetry), and acoustic phased arrays. Particular emphasis will be on diagnostic measurements of flow and acoustics.
Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required, must be enrolled (or accepted for enrollment) in an accredited educational institution, must have completed at minimum 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours,  be enrolled at least half-time as defined by your educational institution, must maintain at least a 2.9 GPA. Please note, that this appointment is expected to start no earlier than May 2017, and last at least 1 year. Applicants must have 1 year remaining in their studies before they complete their degree requirements. Applicants who indicate a graduation date prior to May 2018 will be found ineligible.
