Mechanical Engineering Internship with Purdue Physical Facilities

Mechanical Engineering Internship:

·         Mentor: James Stoller with Purdue Physical Facilities: Asset Management: Facilities Engineering
·         Individual seeking degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology with an interest in pursuing a career in mechanical and plumbing building systems design
·         Undergraduate Student (sophomore or junior class standing)

The Mechanical Engineering Intern position will provide project engineering support to capital and in-house building construction projects as well as participate in mechanical and plumbing building systems stewardship activities. Among other duties the position will assist Facility Engineering in:

  • Updating and maintaining the master building mechanical systems zoning plans.  Field inspection, document analysis, and basic CAD work as required.
  • Update existing mechanical system databases and establish new system databases as required. 
  • Assist in performing building condition assessments of building mechanical and plumbing systems and providing support to writing BCA reports.
  • Performing miscellaneous analysis tasks such as verifying load calculations, researching code interpretations and others in support of Physical Facilities projects.
  • Researching archives and gathering data for various Capital and Physical Facilities design projects.

This 12-month position is full time during the summer and continues part time during the fall and spring semesters. The position is open to 2019 graduates or later with a prospect to continue the following year(s). Seniors and graduate students need not apply.
