Bottomley Undergraduate Research Scholarship

Bottomley Undergraduate Research Scholarship
(Partially supported by Perry Endowment)

Purpose:  To encourage Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students to consider research opportunities and to ultimately pursue graduate education opportunities

Scholarship Amount:  $1000 to the student

Number of AwardsApproximately a total of 15 Mechanical Engineering seniors, juniors and sophomores

Eligibility:  Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

Application Deadline:  Applications solicited each semester, research conducted in the following semester.

***For Spring 2016, applications due by September 16, 2016 to, ME 2007 ATTN: Deanna Padilla or email: or place in mail box in main office ***

1.      A copy of resume
2.      An updated pos with ME 497 research added
3.      A 100 word research description that must be signed by the Faculty Advisor

Selection:  Applications evaluated by a faculty review committee.
1.      Decision communicated to the student and faculty advisor by October 7, 2016
2.      Student required to register for 3 credits for ME 497 Ugrad Research

1.      Write a 2-page summary of the project, ready for submission to Journal of Purdue Undergraduate Research (JPUR)
2.      Present a poster in Gatewood Atrium at the end of Fall 2016, part of showcase of Undergraduate Research
3.      If senior, apply to Purdue Mechanical Engineering for Graduate Studies with fee paid by the School.
